about

I first discovered Rhetorical What loosely written on my desk in purple felt from a colouring pen I have lingering on standby. I laughed as I knew instantly why I'd written it that early morning three days before while the sun was rising and my eyes were thickening. Rhetorical What. It seems that I'd discovered in my own way that no matter how far a mind delves into a complexity, there will always be a question to ask. Accept that there will never be an end to the quest and more so enjoy the questions that will continue to arise... they will only teach you more. Become at peace with the forever moving... >> These ideas are elegant but also part of the illusion I found interesting. Rhetorical What had me laughing and thinking.

The feeling I got from these words inspired the package, the debut album. It gave me confidence to embody my songs into a ship that will serve them well wherever they feel fit. For me, Rhetorical What is not a question, it's a statement or maybe a title that gives way for a philosophical understanding of intellectual pursuit. Be at peace with the unknown and get over the idea that "I" know everything. It also taught me not to stop. Why finish the song here? Why shouldn't I put a scatter of mixed feelings and tempo together? Begin presenting a more unique proposition... it will provide me with something new to ask back.

Once I began it almost felt like the music made itself. The stories are told through real emotional experience I went through.

It is my privilege to present you with the body of work and It brings me joy to know that there is a world to discover within Rhetorical What.

Made with love in the secluded mountains of Arrowtown, New Zealand.
